Trip to London

We celebrated my birthday in London.  It was a gorgeous weekend!  We got really lucky with the weather.  Below are some of the many pictures we took.  We took a 2 hour train ride into the city and stayed at the very nice County Hall Marriott.  The hotel is across the Thames river facing Big Ben and next to the London Eye so the location was awesome.  It was a challenge traveling around the city with 2 kids and a stroller, especially with the underground train and all the steps and escalators.  We first walked to Westminster Abbey Friday afternoon hoping to go inside but unfortunately the line was a mile long.  We decided to go back 1st thing Saturday morning.  Then we took a river cruise along the Thames river and saw the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.  We attempted to go up to the bridge walkway exhibit but it closed right when we got there.
The next day we saw Westminster Abbey then took the Big Bus Tour part of the way and getting off to see Harrods.  Harrods was by far the most fabulous department store I've ever seen with seven floors over 4.5 acres and high class all the way.  I would love to go back again!  That night I had a delicious birthday dinner in an Italian restaurant behind our hotel called Locale.
Sunday we took the underground to the Natural History Museum and saw the dinosaur exhibit.  Abigale freaked out when she saw the giant robotic T-Rex because it looked so real.  That pretty much ruined the rest of museum visit for her so then we were off to Kensington Palace.  The palace had an Enchanted Princess Palace exhibit that Abigale loved so that made up for all those tears.  Then the kids played in the Princess Diana playground near the palace.  Before heading to the train to go home, we stopped at the Royal Mews, Queens Gallery and then Buckingham Palace and had a nice walk back to our hotel to get our luggage.  We were all exhausted after this fun filled weekend.
